UK’s Watt Electric Vehicle Company (WEVC) has partnered with ETRUX, an electric commercial vehicle specialist, to bring a new range of electric commercial vehicles to the market. This collaboration will see WEVC’s electric vehicle platform technology adapted by ETRUX to cater to the specific requirements of the commercial vehicle market.
WEVC’s Watt eCV1 3.5-tonne cab and chassis unit has been designed for the production of up to 5000 vehicles per annum, and enables a wide range of electric commercial vehicle designs. The platform is built with an ergonomic cabin focused around a central driving position, allowing kerbside exit for driver safety and one, two, or three seat configurations.
The first product of this partnership will be unveiled at the Commercial Vehicle Show, to be held at the Birmingham NEC in April. The prototype WATT eCV1 chassis cab complete with ETRUX body conversion will be displayed on the ETRUX stand.
ETRUX is a UK-based manufacturer that assists in the transition of vehicle fleets to carbon zero. By partnering with WEVC, the company aims to deliver an outstanding range of electric commercial vehicles to the market utilising WEVC’s eCV1 platform.
Neil Yates, CEO of WEVC, expressed his delight at the partnership with ETRUX, saying, “This is an exciting time for WEVC as we take the first steps in seeing our electric commercial vehicle platform adapted for a wide range of applications and uses.”
ETRUX CEO, Gerard Galvin, is equally excited about the collaboration, stating, “With this platform, which has been designed to be electric from the ground up, we don’t have to work around the compromises that the industry traditionally faces, especially with electric vans derived from diesel bodies.”
The partnership between WEVC and ETRUX is expected to bring forth a range of innovative and sustainable commercial vehicles, designed to meet the evolving needs of businesses in the UK and beyond.
