Tesla has announced a recall of 3,470 Model Y vehicles in the US due to concerns over the security of the bolts that fasten the second-row seatback frames. According to a filing that was made public on Saturday, the bolts may not have been tightly secured, which could pose risks to passengers in the event of a collision. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has warned that a loose seat frame bolt may reduce the effectiveness of the seat belt system, potentially increasing the risk of injury.
Tesla has informed the NHTSA that it has identified five warranty claims related to these conditions since December. However, the automaker stated that it is not aware of any accidents or fatalities associated with the recall issue. To address the problem, Tesla will be inspecting the bolts that secure the second-row driver-side and passenger-side seat back frames to the lower seat frames. If necessary, they will be tightened to meet specifications.

In December, a Tesla supplier implemented new process controls, along with enhanced training and supervision, to ensure that bolts are torqued correctly to prevent any further incidents. The recall highlights the importance of safety and quality control measures in the automotive industry, and Tesla’s swift response underscores its commitment to protecting its customers.
In the month of February, Tesla made headlines by announcing a recall for a whopping 362,758 vehicles, all of which are equipped with the highly-anticipated Full Self-Driving (FSD) Beta system. Despite the buzz surrounding this advanced technology, it appears that there may have been a flaw in its design, as Tesla has acknowledged the need for a software update to address the issue. As is standard practice for Tesla, the fix will be implemented via an over-the-air (OTA) update, and the company has committed to providing this service free of charge to all affected owners.
