ASOS, the global online fashion destination, has been selected as one of six companies to take part in a trial that will convert 260 employee commutes to electric bus trips for a period of 30 days. The initiative, launched by smart commuter bus service provider Zeelo, forms part of a wider 100% electric commuter service designed to encourage clients to switch to electric vehicles (EVs). The trial will enable Zeelo’s bus operator partners across the country to evaluate the ease-of-use of driving and charging EVs for regular passenger transport.
ASOS signed up to Zeelo’s smart commuter bus service in 2022 to support talent attraction and retention for employees at its flagship customer care centre. The tech-optimised routes enable ASOS to offer its frontline staff a daily bus commute to and from its centre in Leavesden Park near Watford and Watford Junction station.

Zeelo’s tailored bus service offers variable shift schedules, addressing a gap in public transport and enabling higher bus occupancy ratios. This delivers a more comfortable, reliable, faster, affordable and efficient way to commute seven days per week.
Commenting on the trial, Zeelo CEO Sam Ryan said, “Our mission for all Zeelo smart bus commutes to be Net Zero by 2030 cannot be achieved without demonstrating just how simple it is to make the switch to electric bus transport. We’re delighted to bring on board progressive companies like ASOS who are thinking about sustainability across their value chain.”
ASOS Director of Customer Care, Daryl Wilkes added, “Employee journeys represent a small proportion of our overall emissions, but that doesn’t mean they should be ignored. Our team at Leavesden love the commuter service that Zeelo already provides, and we’re pleased to support this important trial.”

Zeelo, which has raised $30m from Venture Capital funds in the UK and US, is reporting 68% year-on-year growth globally and is running services for 150 clients across the UK, US and South Africa. Its proprietary GPS routing algorithm, mobile apps for drivers and riders, and state-of-the-art transport operating platform are managed by an R&D team based in London and Barcelona, and are fully audited and compliant to the highest standards for US operations. Zeelo has also won the Connect22 sustainability award for achieving early emissions reductions milestones with 5% of all its services running on EVs, and has a mission for all Zeelo trips to be Net-Zero by 2030.
The 30-day trial is expected to pave the way for a low emission future of transport, and is just one of the many initiatives that Zeelo is undertaking to make smart bus commutes Net Zero by 2030.
