VinFast, the Vietnamese automaker and subsidiary of Vingroup, is set to make its debut in the US market as it begins the delivery of its VF 8 City Edition electric vehicles (EVs) to US customers on March 1, 2023. The delivery event will be held at VinFast’s store in California, marking a new chapter in the company’s journey into the international market.
The initial deliveries of the VF 8 City Edition will come from the first shipment of 999 units of the EVs that were sent to the US in December 2022. The VF 8 City Edition is available in two trims, the Eco and Plus, with an EPA-rated range of 207 miles and 191 miles, respectively.

The customer delivery event for the VF 8 City Edition will take place on March 1st at the VinFast store in California. For customers who are unable to attend the event, deliveries will begin on March 2nd. Customers can choose to have their vehicles delivered at home or schedule a pickup at a VinFast store. VinFast has also announced multiple test drive events throughout California to allow customers to experience the company’s EVs.
Madam Le Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Chair of Vingroup and Chairwoman of VinFast Holdings, expressed her excitement about the company’s debut in the US market, stating that VinFast’s team had worked tirelessly to ensure that their vehicles meet the highest standards of quality and fit and finish that customers expect. She added that the presence of VinFast EVs on US streets is an important milestone that accelerates VinFast’s journey to compete in the US and abroad. Following deliveries in the US, VinFast plans to deliver EVs in Canada, France, Germany, and the Netherlands.
The VF 8 City Edition is equipped with several smart technology features, such as Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and Smart Services, which allow it to become a mobile platform that connects all aspects of life. These features will be enhanced regularly using over-the-air (FOTA) updates to improve vehicle functionality and customer experience.
