Euro NCAP gives a 5-star rating for Hyundai’s newest EV, namely the Ioniq 6. Various tests to find out the safety features in this car work well.
From the crash test, it appears that all the airbags open properly. At the front, sides and center, the seat design is also considered safe and prevents serious neck injuries. The NCAP gives 97% for adult protection, and 87% for children’s protection.
While the braking assistance feature works quite well, the Ioniq 6 is able to detect pedestrians, cyclists, and even cars in front of it.
Then lane keeping assist and road limits are also tested, so as to keep the car from getting off the track.
The result is that NCAP gives a score of 66% for pedestrian protection, and 90% for security features.
The Ioniq 6 First Edition uses an all-wheel-drive (AWD) drive system. The battery is Standard Range 53 kWh and Long Range 77.4 kWh combined with dual motor drive power that produces 320 hp and 605 Nm of torque, can accelerate from 0-100 kph in just 5.1 seconds. Mileage is claimed to reach 519 km.
This electric car is equipped with Hyundai SmartSense as an active safety feature that can prevent incidents from happening.
The safety features include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keeping & Lane Following Assist (LKA & LFA), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), Driver Attention Warning ( DAW), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go Function (SCC w/ S&G) High Beam Assist (HBA) and others as standard.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is also equipped with the Highway Driving Assist II feature along with the adaptive cruise control feature. So that the pace remains in the middle of the lane and maintains a safe distance from the front car.
