German automaker Mercedes-Benz recently formed a partnership with Apple Music and Universal Music Group to develop what it claims is the best audio experience in any car on the market today.
“This new collaboration builds on the integration of Dolby Atmos immersive audio in Burmester’s high-end 4D and 3D sound systems offered in Mercedes-Benz vehicles with the latest MBUX generation,” Mercedes-Benz said in a statement.
From a survey it conducted, Mercedes-Benz found that more than 76% of drivers believe the realistic spatial sound in their vehicle is a fairly important feature that determines their decision when making a vehicle purchase, as more than 70% of people say that they mostly listen to music. while in their car.
Mercedes-Benz also demonstrated how the Burmester 4D sound system works in the 2022 Maybach S-Class via the @DufferRobert twitter account.

The Burmester 4D sound system consists of 31 speakers, including six 3D speakers that emit sound from above, 4 near-ear speakers in the front seats, 18.5 liter subwoofer, 8 sound transducers (two per seat), 2 amplifiers and 1750 watts of power.
Kevin Yeaman, President and CEO of Dolby Laboratories commented about the new sound system, âThe unique immersive music experience at Dolby Atmos, sets a new standard for how music should be heard in the car.â
The Burmester 4D sound system comes with a price tag of $6,730 and is currently only available for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Maybach S580.
