Stellantis is considering investing billions of dollars to build an electric vehicle production base in Mexico.

But those plans are not final and are subject to change, Stellantis spokesman Shawn Morgan said in an email response to Bloomberg.

“We invest regularly in plants all around the world to upgrade in terms of process, vehicle production or adapt to electrification as part of our $35 billion investment in electrification and software announced during our EV Day one year ago.” Shawn Morgan said

In July, Stellantis Executives met with President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to discuss electric vehicles and strengthening supply chains in Mexico.

Stellantis was worried about getting enough electricity for the factory.

CATL is also reportedly considering building a new EV battery factory in Mexico. Tesla is also considering a Giga Plant in Canada or Mexico.
