BMW announced last May that its Neue Klasse Neue Klasse electric vehicle platform will debut in 2025.
This time, BMW CEO Oliver Zipse gave more details about the Bavarian manufacturer’s future platform. During the BMW Group’s Q2 2022 conference call on August 3, Oliver Zipse said the debut of the Neue Klasse will come in sedan and SUV form.
“Our NEUE KLASSE will be coming in 2025 – at exactly the right time, when the e‑mobility ramp-up will be reaching new levels. The NEUE KLASSE will speed up market penetration of electric vehicles even further. For the launch of the NEUE KLASSE, we are planning a compact sedan in the 3 Series segment and a sporty SUV.” Says BMW CEO Oliver Zipse
Zipse added that by 2030, the Neue Klasse is targeted to be present in more than half of BMW’s global sales. Interestingly, he added that BMW “could also envision a hydrogen drivetrain for this new vehicle generation.”
“It defines what the BMW Group will stand for in the future and will make us an entirely new company. Because: BMW was founded in 1916. In the 1960s, the company reinvented itself with the ‘old’ Neue Klasse. And, in 2025 , we will totally reinvent ourselves for the second time with the NEUE KLASSE.” Zipse word
Neue Klasse is billed as “a complete reset to the car and our understanding of mobility,”. BMW itself developed this platform intensively over the next three years.
