US battery cell manufacturer Rincell expects to ship more than 500,000 cells across its product range by the end of 2026, including its RC50 and RC50T models. Announced on November 4, the company’s production update highlights growing demand for its silicon-graphite lithium-ion technology, with India’s Autorev integrating the RC50 cylindrical cell into battery packs for electric scooters and motorcycles.
The RC50 is a 21700-format cell designed to combine high energy density, power output and cycle life. Rincell said the product is already in production and shipping to customers in the United States and India, with additional applications undergoing qualification.
RC50 Cell Specifications and Applications
The RC50 uses silicon-graphite lithium-ion chemistry and has a nominal capacity of 5.0 Ah, with a minimum capacity of 4.8 Ah and nominal voltage of 3.6 V.
The cell has a maximum diameter of 21.4 mm and length of 70.75 mm, with a weight of 67 grams or less. Its energy density is approximately 276 Wh/kg.
For power delivery, the RC50 supports a continuous discharge current of 25 A and pulse output of up to 50 A. Its maximum charging current is 5 A. Rincell reports a cycle life of more than 1,200 cycles while retaining 80% of its original capacity, based on validation testing conducted by customers.
The cell has obtained UN 38.3, IEC 62133 and BIS certifications and is described by the company as compliant with the US National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
Beyond electric two-wheelers, Rincell is supplying RC50 cells for commercial products and qualifying the technology for additional uses, including medical X-ray equipment, industrial machinery and commercial drones.
The company said it has secured follow-on purchase orders for deliveries over the next 12 months, with customers in the United States and India among the recipients.
Autorev Integrates RC50 Into Electric Two-Wheeler Batteries
Indian battery pack manufacturer Autorev is using the RC50 in battery systems for electric scooters and motorcycles.
Mohammad Ubeduddin, chief technology officer of Autorev, said the cell’s combination of performance characteristics was suited to the demands of electric two-wheelers.
“Electric two-wheelers are one of the toughest jobs a battery can do. The RC50 gives us all three in a single cell, and it has performed consistently in our own testing,”
Ubeduddin was referring to the cell’s range, power delivery and operating life.
Rincell Expands Production in the United States and India
Founded in January 2023, Rincell develops and manufactures silicon-graphite lithium-ion and sodium-ion battery cells for defense and commercial applications.
The company operates a 6,500-square-foot pilot production line in Fremont, California, while conducting most of its volume manufacturing in India. It is also developing a US production facility that is scheduled to begin operations in late 2027.
The RC50 follows the RC50T, a high-power cylindrical battery cell designed for drone applications that Rincell introduced at DroneX in London in September. Both products are currently in production.
Jignesh Parikh, co-founder and CEO of Rincell, described the RC50 as a general-purpose cell combining several performance characteristics.
“The RC50 is our all-rounder. It combines high energy, high power and long life in one cell,”
The company’s target of shipping more than 500,000 cells by the end of 2026 reflects its plans to expand commercial deliveries across electric mobility, industrial and other battery-powered applications.
