BYD and Spanish energy provider Iberdrola have introduced an electric mobility package in Spain that combines home charging equipment, discounted electricity rates and incentives for public charging. The offer is available to customers purchasing an electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid from BYD.
The programme, marketed as “Plan Recarga Inteligente”, builds on the companies’ strategic partnership and is designed to reduce the cost of charging while making home and public charging infrastructure more accessible to BYD customers.
Home Charging Equipment and Electricity Discounts
Under the agreement, customers purchasing a BYD vehicle can obtain a home wallbox by arranging its installation through Iberdrola. Buyers pay half the market price for the installation, representing a reported saving of €969, according to the energy provider.
Customers who subscribe to Iberdrola’s Plan Recarga Inteligente electricity tariff also receive preferential pricing for home charging. The tariff is priced at €0.25/kWh, including taxes.
The package additionally includes an electricity discount equivalent to the energy required to drive 10,000 kilometres annually over a three-year period.
Public Charging Benefits Through Iberdrola’s Network
The agreement also provides incentives for customers using Iberdrola España’s public charging infrastructure.
BYD customers receive a 50% discount on charging sessions at selected locations across the network for the first six months.
After this promotional period, customers receive a 12-month membership in Iberdrola’s Plan Recarga + service, normally priced at €9.99 per month. The membership provides a 20% discount on public charging sessions.
“Thanks to this agreement, BYD customers will have access to first-class charging infrastructure, backed by smart tariffs designed to maximise savings at home and an increasingly extensive and reliable public network with more than 12,000 operational charging points,” said Luis Buil, Smart Solutions Director at Iberdrola España.
BYD Expands Energy Partnerships Across Europe
The Spanish initiative follows similar agreements between BYD and energy companies in other European markets.
Earlier in the week, BYD announced a comparable customer offer in Germany through its partnership with E.ON. In the United Kingdom, the automaker has also worked with Octopus Energy since the summer to provide integrated electric vehicle and energy services.
The UK partnership includes bidirectional charging capabilities, allowing electricity to flow between vehicles and the power system. However, this functionality is not currently included in the offers announced in Germany and Spain.
