Tesla has opened its first Supercharger location in Singapore to non-Tesla electric vehicles, allowing drivers of compatible models to access its charging network. The Dunearn Village station in the Bukit Timah area offers four charging stalls with output of up to 250 kW. The opening was reported by The Straits Times.
The site began operating in early October and is available around the clock to Tesla vehicles and other compatible EVs, according to Tesla’s official location listing.
Higher Charging Rates for Other EV Brands
Non-Tesla drivers pay between S$0.63 and S$0.91 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), depending on the time of day. Tesla owners pay lower rates, ranging from S$0.47 to S$0.67 per kWh.
Tesla says the higher rates for non-Tesla vehicles reflect the additional costs of supporting different EV models and adapting charging locations. Congestion fees may also apply to non-Tesla drivers.
Access Requires the Tesla App
Drivers of non-Tesla EVs must have a vehicle equipped with a Combined Charging System Type 2 (CCS2) port and use the Tesla app to start a charging session. Through the app, users can locate the station, add a payment method and select a charging stall.
Expansion of Tesla’s Charging Network
The Dunearn Village site is Singapore’s first Tesla charging location open to other EV brands. The country’s remaining 18 Tesla charging sites continue to serve Tesla vehicles exclusively, and the company has not announced whether it will expand access to those locations.
The move follows similar initiatives in other markets, including Canada, where compatible non-Tesla electric vehicles can use participating Supercharger locations.
