The new Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid has a larger battery with a gross capacity of 17.9 kWh (previously 14.1 kWh), which translates to an increase in electric range of up to 30%.
Measured according to the NEDC cycle (ECE-R101), the Cayenne E-Hybrid can now cover a distance of up to 48 kilometers with zero local emissions. All plug-in hybrid Cayenne models consist of an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission.
This electric motor produces an output of 100 kW (134.1 hp) and 400 Nm, which is claimed to produce a top speed of pure electricity at 135 kph. Each switch to Sport or Sport Plus driving mode activates the internal combustion engine in each model.
The Cayenne E-Hybrid and Cayenne E-Hybrid Platinum Edition are equipped with a 3,000 cc V6 turbo engine with 335.3 hp, with a total power of 455 hp combined with the hybrid.
Both the Cayenne and Panamera E-Hybrid are claimed to use optimized cells in their new batteries, and feature customized driving modes for more efficient energy use.
Both models have a new E-Charge mode, the internal combustion engine produces more of the energy needed to charge the battery on the go.
In this way, it claims battery capacity levels are always high, and all-electric drive can be activated upon request, for example when entering a quiet residential area at the end of a trip.
Most drivers charge their vehicles at home, so a conventional domestic or industrial electrical socket is sufficient to charge all Porsche plug-in hybrid models. Depending on the vehicle model, a charging power of up to 7.2 kW can be achieved with the Porsche Mobile Charger Connect.
By using a Mode 3 charging cable, owners can also charge at common charging points. Mobile Charger Connect offers multiple charging functions and there is a timer.
