Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched a new 58kWh battery option for the ID. Buzz Cargo in the UK, introducing improvements in driving range, performance and onboard technology across the electric van range.
The update replaces the previous 59kWh battery variant while lowering the vehicle’s entry price.
Longer Range and Higher Output
The new battery increases the ID. Buzz Cargo’s WLTP driving range to 218 miles (351 kilometres), up from the previous version by 17 miles (27 kilometres).
Maximum power output has also increased from 125kW to 140kW, with Volkswagen attributing the improvements to more efficient battery cell technology.
The new entry-level model is priced from £29,995 excluding VAT, which is £5,655 lower than the outgoing 59kWh version.
Eligible UK buyers can also benefit from the government’s Plug-in Van Grant, reducing the purchase price by a further £5,000.
Vehicle-to-Load Added
Volkswagen has introduced vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality across the entire ID. Buzz Cargo lineup.
The system provides a continuous power output of 2.0kW and a peak output of 3.6kW, enabling users to operate external electrical equipment including power tools, laptops and other appliances directly from the vehicle.
The three-pin power outlet is located in the rear cargo compartment and is accessible through both the rear and side loading doors.
Software Enhancements
The update also brings ID. Software 6.0 to the ID. Buzz Cargo range.
New features include an integrated app store that allows drivers to download streaming, charging and parking applications directly through the vehicle.
Volkswagen has also expanded its Connected Travel Assist system by incorporating additional online data, enabling functions such as traffic light recognition that can automatically bring the vehicle to a stop when a red signal is detected.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles said the latest upgrades are intended to improve the vehicle’s practicality, performance and convenience for commercial operators.
