Berlin-based Hubject has signed a partnership agreement with Dutch charging software provider Road, expanding the reach of its Intercharge eRoaming platform and increasing connectivity across the European electric vehicle charging ecosystem.
The collaboration will integrate Road’s charging network into Hubject’s roaming platform, providing broader access to public charging infrastructure for both companies’ customers.
Road Adds More Than 100,000 Charge Points
Founded in 2017, Road provides a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that enables charge point operators (CPOs) and e-mobility service providers (eMSPs) to manage charging infrastructure and process charging transactions.
The company specializes in manufacturer-independent charging solutions and offers tools that allow customers to create branded charging experiences.
Under the partnership, Road plans to connect more than 100,000 public charging points managed through its platform to Hubject’s Intercharge network over time.
Access to More Than 1.1 Million Charge Points
Road’s customers will gain immediate access to Hubject’s Intercharge ecosystem, which currently provides connectivity to more than 1.1 million charging points globally.
The companies said the partnership is designed to improve interoperability and simplify charging access for EV drivers across multiple markets.
“Road’s presence across Benelux and Germany makes this a meaningful addition to the intercharge network,” said Christian Hahn, Chief Executive Officer of Hubject.
“As a platform serving a broad base of CPOs and eMSPs in markets where interoperability is already well established, their connection to intercharge extends value for every partner already on the network.”
Focus on Seamless Charging Transactions
Road said roaming services remain a key component of its strategy to simplify electric vehicle charging for both operators and drivers.
“At Road, we focus on enabling seamless EV charging transactions, with roaming as a key component,” said Gina ter Heide, Chief Product Officer at Road.
“By joining Hubject, we expand the reach of our eMSP partners and contribute to a more connected and accessible charging ecosystem for drivers.”
Expanding European Charging Connectivity
Hubject is one of the largest roaming providers in the electric mobility sector, connecting more than 3,500 business partners across more than 75 countries.
Its Intercharge platform supports interoperability between charging networks and mobility service providers, allowing drivers to access charging stations through a single account or service provider.
The platform also supports Plug&Charge functionality, enabling compatible vehicles to automatically authenticate and initiate charging sessions without additional apps or cards.
Backed by Automotive and Energy Industry Leaders
Hubject operates as a joint venture supported by major automotive, energy and technology companies.
Its shareholders include BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, EnBW, Enel X, E.ON, Bosch and Siemens.
The latest partnership reflects continued efforts within the charging industry to improve network interoperability and provide EV drivers with broader access to public charging infrastructure across Europe.
