Sao Paulo to Host Brazilian Formula E Next Season

For the first time in history, Brazil will host Formula E starting from the 2023 season, on a five-year contract.

The Brazilian Formula E which will be held in the City of Sao Paulo will also feel special, because in that season the third generation Formula E car will be used for the first time.

Alberto Longo, Co-founder and Chief Championship Officer of Formula E, said that his party was very enthusiastic and welcomed the implementation of Formula E in Brazil.

“We are delighted that the Formula E World Championship will be held in Brazil for the first time, pending FIA approval in June,” said Longo.

“This country has a longstanding passion for motorsport, it is a huge market as one of the largest countries in the world, and Sao Paulo itself is a historic racing venue.”

On the other hand, the Mayor of Sao Paulo, Ricardo Nunes, said this agreement was in line with Brazil’s goal to reduce exhaust emissions in the country.

“Hosting the E-Prix is ​​completely in line with the city’s goal, which is to attract and promote the image of Sao Paulo to the world,” said Ricardo.

“In addition, this event is also to move the economy and create jobs in the tourism sector. And to encourage sustainable development,” he said.

Positive enthusiasm was also expressed by Lucas di Grassi, a Brazilian racer who is currently competing in Formula E with the ROKiT Venturi Racing team.

Lucas di Grassi said he was happy, because Formula E racing could finally be present in the country of his birth.

“The news about Sao Paulo hosting Formula E is an exciting thing for me,” said di Grassi.

“This milestone not only marks the return of the pinnacle of electric motorsport to South America, but it is also an important step towards electrification in the Brazilian automotive market.”

He also hopes that he can become the host’s representative racer in the electric car racing event.

“On a personal note, it would be a great pride and energy if I could perform in front of the Brazilian racing fans,” he said.
