ChargePoint and Powers Parts have entered into a distribution partnership aimed at expanding access to electric vehicle charging infrastructure and fleet management solutions for transit agencies across North America.
Under the agreement, transit operators will be able to procure ChargePoint’s direct current fast-charging hardware, software, and support services through Powers Parts’ distribution network. The partnership is expected to particularly benefit operators of Phoenix E2 and ZX5 electric buses, a segment the companies said has faced limited charging infrastructure support.
Partnership Targets Growing Electric Transit Market
The collaboration combines ChargePoint’s charging technology portfolio with Powers Parts’ established presence in the transit sector.
Powers Parts was initially founded as a supplier of replacement components for electric transit fleets but has since expanded its offerings to include operational support services covering charging infrastructure, telematics, and fleet management.
Through the partnership, transit agencies will gain access to a broader range of charging and fleet solutions designed to support the ongoing electrification of public transportation systems.
Integrated Charging and Fleet Management Solutions
In addition to charging hardware, transit operators will be able to utilize ChargePoint’s fleet telematics and management software through the Powers Parts network.
ChargePoint said its fleet management platform is designed to operate across mixed-fuel fleets and can integrate with charging equipment from multiple manufacturers while supporting the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) standard.
The platform provides real-time fleet visibility, battery health monitoring, route analysis, and charging management tools intended to help transit agencies optimize operations and improve vehicle utilization.
Supporting Transit Electrification Efforts
The companies said the partnership addresses a growing need for reliable charging infrastructure as transit operators continue transitioning toward zero-emission fleets.
“Transit is critical to the broader electrification of transportation, delivering a healthier option for communities and transit riders, as well as superior experience for the drivers,” said Rick Wilmer, Chief Executive Officer of ChargePoint.
“As the market continues to grow it will need reliable charging infrastructure and support. Our partnership with Powers Parts expands our reach across the transit ecosystem, connecting their proven relationships with our scalable charging and telematics solutions.”
The agreement reflects continued investment in charging infrastructure and fleet technologies as public transportation agencies across North America increase the deployment of battery-electric buses.
