LiveWire Group has acquired the assets of Oregon-based electric dirt bike startup Dust Moto, marking the company’s first acquisition and its entry into the electric off-road motorcycle segment.
The Milwaukee-based company, whose majority shareholder is Harley-Davidson, said the acquisition expands its electric two-wheel portfolio beyond on-road motorcycles and will accelerate development of Dust Moto’s electric dirt bike platform toward production.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
LiveWire said additional product launch details are expected during the second half of 2026.
The acquisition represents the first corporate takeover in LiveWire’s history and forms part of the company’s broader strategy to expand into electric powersports beyond its current lineup of on-road electric motorcycles, which includes the S2 Del Mar, S2 Mulholland and S2 Alpinista models.
LiveWire Chief Executive Karim Donnez said the deal strengthens the company’s position in electric powersports while expanding into the growing off-road segment.
“LiveWire pioneered the on-road electric motorcycle market, and this acquisition allows us to build on that leadership as we expand into off-road, continuing the journey that began with STACYC ten years ago,” Donnez said.
The company said the electric off-road market is seeing growing demand driven by the high torque characteristics of electric drivetrains, reduced noise, lower maintenance requirements and the simplicity of single-speed operation.
Following the acquisition, LiveWire plans to use its engineering capabilities, manufacturing resources and global sales and service network to advance Dust Moto’s dirt bike platform toward commercial production.
Dust Moto Chief Executive Colin Godby will continue working within the combined business.
“Joining LiveWire marks an exciting next chapter in our journey,” Godby said. “With LiveWire’s scale, resources, and global reach, we can bring our electric off-road bike to market with a worldwide audience and deliver an unmatched off-road experience.”
LiveWire said the acquisition reflects its continued focus on expanding both its product lineup and its addressable market across electric powersports categories.
