Volvo Car Korea has opened sales of the all-electric ES90 in South Korea, introducing its flagship battery-powered sedan in one of the automaker’s key global markets with a starting price of 72.94 million won (€43,500).
The launch positions the ES90 in the country’s premium electric vehicle segment, where it will compete with models including the Mercedes-Benz EQE and BMW i5. Volvo said the Korean pricing is more than 50 million won lower than in major European markets, underscoring the importance of South Korea in the company’s electric vehicle strategy.

Speaking at the vehicle’s launch event in Seoul, Volvo Car Korea Chief Executive Lee Yoon-mo said the company expects the ES90 to become a significant model in its premium lineup.
“The sales target is more than 3000 vehicles per year, and the strategic pricing will come as a major appeal of the premium vehicle.”
Lee added that the ES90 showcases Volvo’s latest advances in electrification and vehicle technology.
“The ES90 represents the culmination of Volvo’s vision for electrification and our next-generation flagship technologies.”
Volvo also described the model as combining “the elegance of a sedan, the practicality of a fastback, and the spaciousness of an SUV.”

Three Powertrain Options Available
The ES90 is the first Volvo vehicle built on an 800-volt electrical architecture and the second model developed using the company’s SPA2 platform.
Customers in South Korea can choose from three variants: the Single Motor Extended Range, Twin Motor all-wheel drive, and Twin Motor Performance.
The entry-level Single Motor version produces 245kW of power and 480Nm of torque through a rear-mounted electric motor, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds.

The Twin Motor variant delivers 330kW and 670Nm, while the range-topping Twin Motor Performance generates 500kW and 870Nm. According to Volvo, the all-wheel-drive version reaches 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, while the Performance model completes the sprint in four seconds. All versions have an electronically limited top speed of 180 km/h.
The ES90 also features a 3,102mm wheelbase and offers up to 706 kilometers of driving range under the WLTP testing standard in the Twin Motor configuration. Its 800-volt platform supports DC fast charging at up to 350kW, enabling faster charging times as Volvo expands its premium electric vehicle portfolio in global markets.
