Volkswagen has introduced technical updates for its ID.4 and ID.5 electric vehicles in the United Kingdom, including revised battery capacities, efficiency improvements and vehicle-to-load functionality.
The automaker said selected variants of both models now feature higher-capacity battery packs, extended driving range and updated equipment levels.
For ID.4 and ID.5 Pure variants, net battery capacity has been increased from 52 kWh to 58 kWh, while other trims now use battery packs with 79 kWh net capacity instead of the previous 77 kWh to 79 kWh range.
Volkswagen said the larger battery in certain variants increases driving range by up to 40 kilometers.
The ID.4 Pro 4MOTION now delivers up to 220 kilowatts of power and offers a WLTP range of up to 341 miles, the company said.
In GTX variants, Volkswagen reduced usable battery capacity but maintained power output, with efficiency gains leading to a slight range increase.
The updates also add vehicle-to-load and bi-directional charging capability, allowing the vehicles to power external devices through the charging port when used with an optional adapter.
Volkswagen said the revisions include physical steering wheel buttons, enhancements to driver-assistance systems and updates to infotainment software.
Traffic Assist has been expanded to include Front Cross functionality, while the company also updated driver attention monitoring and its infotainment interface.
For ID.4 Pro 4MOTION variants, maximum braked towing capacity has increased to 1,800 kilograms from 1,200 kilograms.
Equipment changes include larger 19-inch wheels on entry-level trims, electric tailgates on mid-range models and an optional 230-volt socket across both model lines.
Volkswagen said most of the specification changes are being introduced with little or no additional cost.
