German software provider Tronity has partnered with Mercedes-Benz to streamline reimbursement of home charging costs for electric company cars, as new regulations in Germany require precise accounting of electricity usage.
Under the agreement, Tronity’s Fleet solution will be integrated into Mercedes-Benz’s fleet offering and made available to business customers in Germany. The move comes after the expiration of a tax-free flat-rate reimbursement scheme at the end of 2025, which allowed employers to compensate employees up to €70 per month without detailed tracking.
Since January 2026, reimbursement must be based on exact kilowatt-hour consumption, increasing administrative complexity for companies managing electric vehicle fleets.
Tronity said its software automates the reimbursement process by using vehicle data to track home charging sessions without the need for additional hardware such as wallboxes or manual meter readings. The system is designed to generate tamper-proof reports and integrate with enterprise software platforms such as SAP.
Torsten Born said the collaboration addresses a growing operational challenge. “The partnership with Mercedes-Benz is a significant milestone for Tronity. Together, we are creating a digital solution that makes reimbursing home charging costs for electric company cars easier and more efficient than ever before. Fleet managers benefit from an intuitive, digitised reimbursement process that is transparent and fully GDPR-compliant,” he said.
The company added that the system can also handle end-to-end processes, including automated reporting and optional direct payments to employees.
Markus Hagel said the solution reflects evolving fleet needs. “With Tronity, we have gained an innovative partner who not only understands the challenges of modern electromobility in corporate fleets but also translates them into a smart solution. Together, we are offering our fleet customers, for the first time, a fully digital and hardware-free way to reimburse home charging costs efficiently and transparently,” he said.
Mercedes-Benz said Tronity Fleet will become a standard component of its fleet portfolio in Germany. The two companies have previously collaborated on similar solutions in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria and the United Kingdom.
