Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng has launched an extended-range version of its G6 SUV as the company moves deeper into China’s fast-growing hybrid vehicle segment.
The Xpeng G6 extended-range model starts at 186,800 yuan ($27,080), slightly higher than the 176,800 yuan starting price of the fully electric 2026 G6 introduced earlier this year.

The vehicle combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a 55.8-kWh battery pack, providing a pure electric driving range of up to 430 kilometers. With both the battery fully charged and the fuel tank full, the SUV can travel up to 1,704 kilometers, which Xpeng said makes it the longest-range SUV currently available.
The extended-range G6 is built on an 800-volt electrical architecture and supports 5C fast charging. According to the company, the system can add about 314 kilometers of driving range in roughly 12 minutes.
The model also integrates advanced driver assistance technologies, including Xpeng’s second-generation Vision-Language-Action (VLA) AI model and the company’s in-house developed autonomous driving chips. The vehicle’s computing platform can reach up to 2,250 TOPS of processing power.

Safety features include automatic emergency braking at speeds up to 130 km/h and a stability control function designed to maintain vehicle control in the event of a tire blowout at speeds of up to 180 km/h.
Xpeng is also introducing a tiered pricing structure for advanced driving features. The standard Max version of the G6 extended-range model uses a single Turing AI chip delivering 750 TOPS of computing power.
Customers can upgrade to the Ultra SE configuration with two Turing AI chips for an additional 12,000 yuan. A higher-end option priced at 20,000 yuan includes three chips and is designed to support near-Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities.

The launch forms part of Xpeng’s strategy to offer both battery-electric and extended-range powertrains across its product lineup. The company recently introduced extended-range versions of the P7+ sedan and the G7 SUV as it builds a broader hybrid portfolio.
To support the launch, Xpeng said customers placing orders for the G6 extended-range before the end of March will receive promotional incentives worth up to 33,200 yuan, including purchase subsidies and optional equipment packages.
