German commercial vehicle manufacturer MAN Truck & Bus plans to invest around €300 million to expand and modernise its European service network by 2030, with a portion of the funding allocated to electric mobility and digitalisation.
The company said roughly €100 million of the investment will focus on preparing sales and service sites for electric vehicles and improving digital capabilities. According to MAN, the programme represents the largest investment initiative in the company’s service network in its history.
The funding will be made possible through savings from the company’s MAN2030+ efficiency programme announced earlier this year, which aims to reduce costs while enabling investment in growth and innovation.
MAN said the initiative will support the expansion of its service network, modernisation of existing facilities and improvements in service quality in order to strengthen customer loyalty and attract new clients.
The company expects two-thirds of its service centres to be prepared for electric mobility by the end of this year. Preparations include infrastructure upgrades and workforce training programmes.
“Around 8,000 employees, from sales representatives to high-voltage mechanics, are undergoing further intensive training on the subject of e-mobility,” the company said, adding that the budget for additional EV-related training in Germany will be doubled under the investment programme.
MAN also plans to expand its network of battery repair centres across Europe. Facilities already operate in Germany, Spain, Belgium, Italy and Austria, with Austria also serving as a hub for neighbouring markets including the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
The company said additional countries will join the network in the coming months, including Sweden through partnerships and the Netherlands in the near future. By 2030, the manufacturer aims to establish battery repair capabilities across all European markets.
Alongside service upgrades, MAN is also developing a charging network for electric trucks in partnership with energy company E.ON.
The project, announced in 2024, aims to install up to 400 public charging points for electric trucks at as many as 170 MAN service locations across Europe, including up to 125 sites in Germany. Operational sites already include Berlin-Wildau, Fürstenwalde and Karlsfeld in Germany, as well as Eugendorf in Austria and Čestlice in the Czech Republic.
MAN said its service network currently includes around 1,200 company-owned and partner-operated locations across Europe, with about 7,000 employees working at MAN-operated sites. Through its roadside assistance service MAN Mobile24, approximately 2,000 service centres and partners provide support to customers throughout the region.
“A strong brand needs a strong service network. We have that – and we are now making it even stronger,” said Friedrich Baumann, Executive Board Member for Sales and Customer Solutions at MAN.
“Our strong network is a competitive advantage. We want to expand it further. That is why we are investing heavily here over the next few years, because the combination of product, service, and good quality will become even more important in the coming years, especially against the backdrop of new competitors,” Baumann said.
MAN aims for nearly 80% of customers in key European markets to reach a service location within a 30-minute drive by 2030. Priority markets include Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Poland and Turkey.
The company plans to open an average of seven new service locations per year in these regions.
Separately, MAN reported stable financial results for 2025. Revenue rose slightly to €14.1 billion, up 3% year-on-year, while vehicle sales increased by 6% to 101,600 units.
Electric commercial vehicles recorded strong growth, with sales rising by 168% to about 1,970 units. The bus division delivered more than 1,300 electric city buses during the year, while approximately 620 electric trucks were sold.
MAN began series production of its new generation of electric trucks at its Munich plant in mid-2025 and plans to expand its electric lineup further. Upcoming models include the 12-tonne MAN eTGL, another electric truck in the up-to-16-tonne segment and the battery-electric MAN eCoach expected later this year.
