Audi has announced that Chief Technology Officer Geoffrey Bouquot will leave the company after just over a year, with Lamborghini CTO Rouven Mohr set to take over as Head of Technical Development beginning March 1.
Bouquot joined the German automaker in mid-2024 to lead a newly created board-level division focused on innovation and software-defined vehicles. By the end of that year, the unit was merged with Technical Development, and Bouquot assumed responsibility for the combined organization, succeeding CEO Gernot Döllner, who had temporarily overseen the department.
Audi did not provide specific reasons for Bouquot’s departure but said he had initiated key changes during his tenure. “Over the past two years, Geoffrey Bouquot has reignited the ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ mindset and successfully initiated the transformation of Audi R&D,” the company said, citing organizational strengthening and improved cross-functional collaboration.
Rouven Mohr, an 18-year veteran of the Volkswagen Group, will assume leadership of Technical Development at Audi’s headquarters in Ingolstadt while continuing as Lamborghini’s CTO on an interim basis until a successor is appointed. Mohr previously oversaw the Italian brand’s transition toward hybrid powertrains and held earlier roles in vehicle development, testing and emissions.
“Rouven Mohr joins us as a distinguished technology expert who combines in-depth know-how with a clear focus on long-term value creation for Audi,” said Manfred Döss, chairman of Audi’s supervisory board.
Audi CEO Döllner said Mohr’s experience managing complex transformation projects would help accelerate innovation. “Rouven Mohr combines technical excellence with a focus on products and proven execution strength,” he said, while also thanking Bouquot for his contributions and wishing him success in future endeavors.
Mohr’s appointment continues a period of leadership turnover in Audi’s Technical Development division, which has seen multiple changes since 2012 amid industry shifts, regulatory pressures and corporate restructuring. Bouquot is expected to leave the company to pursue opportunities outside Audi.
