DHL Supply Chain has opened a new electric vehicle logistics centre in Senec, Slovakia, expanding its global network of specialised facilities supporting the growing electromobility sector and marking the company’s first such site in Central Europe.
The 26,000-square-metre warehouse will provide end-to-end logistics solutions for lithium-ion batteries, electric vehicle components and related technologies, covering inbound and outbound transport, storage and aftermarket services. The facility becomes DHL Supply Chain’s 20th global Centre of Excellence for Electric Vehicles, reflecting increasing demand for specialised handling of battery systems and hazardous materials.
“At DHL, we are thrilled to unveil the first EV Centre of Excellence in Central Europe. This initiative demonstrates our dedication to sustainable logistics solutions for the electric vehicles sector,” said Tibor Micuch, Business Unit Director at DHL Supply Chain Slovakia. He added that the centre offers “an extensive range of services and solutions, acting as a single destination for our customers to find all they require.”
The site includes temperature- and humidity-controlled zones, dedicated areas for hazardous goods, battery testing and charging capabilities, and services tailored to sectors such as electric two-wheelers. DHL said the facility is designed to support the full lifecycle of electric mobility products, from manufacturing logistics to aftermarket operations.
“Our aim is to lead the way in advancing the electric vehicle market in the region,” said David Šmerda, Business Development Manager at DHL Supply Chain Slovakia. “Backed by our global network, we provide solutions that enhance aftermarket efficiency and promote the growth of e-mobility in Slovakia and beyond.”
DHL has been expanding its EV logistics capabilities worldwide as automakers accelerate electrification. The company opened its first mainland European EV Centre of Excellence near Milan in 2024, following an earlier facility in the United Kingdom. Additional centres operate across Europe, Asia, Africa, North America and the Middle East, including locations in Germany, France, China, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, the United States, Mexico, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
