GAC Group’s low-altitude mobility unit GAC GOVY has secured more than 2,000 intent orders for its first mass-produced multi-rotor electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, the GOVY AirCab, marking a key step toward commercialization, the company said.
The order backlog represents a total value of more than 3.3 billion yuan ($460 million), according to GAC GOVY. The AirCab, designed for low-altitude tourism and short-distance travel, has entered the comprehensive airworthiness certification phase, with several core safety indicators already passing initial verification.

GAC GOVY said it expects to obtain full certification — including the Type Certificate and Production Certificate — by the end of 2026, which would clear the aircraft for mass production and customer deliveries. The program is being developed under GAC Group as part of its broader push into advanced mobility technologies.
The two-seat GOVY AirCab adopts a six-axis, 12-rotor configuration and uses an airframe made of more than 90% aviation-grade carbon fiber composites, reducing weight by over 30% compared with conventional materials. The cabin features top-mounted rotors, gull-wing doors, 5G connectivity and an intelligent assistant, targeting a balance between passenger comfort and operational efficiency.

Powered by a fully electric system, the aircraft supports fast charging, with 25 minutes for a full charge and 15 minutes to recharge the battery from 50% to 100%. It offers a range of about 30 kilometers and a cruising speed of 120 km/h. Safety systems include an L4 autonomous flight capability with more than 500 TOPS of computing power, a detection range exceeding 300 meters, redundant flight control and navigation systems, and cloud-based self-diagnostics.
The official guide price for the GOVY AirCab is capped at 1.68 million yuan, undercutting the typical 2 million to 3 million yuan pricing seen among rival eVTOL developers. GAC GOVY said the cost advantage is supported by GAC’s established new energy vehicle supply chain and the reuse of existing technologies.

By the end of 2025, the GAC GOVY factory in Guangzhou had begun installing and commissioning production equipment, with trial production scheduled to start next month. The site includes general assembly, sub-assembly, composite manufacturing and painting workshops, and will support pilot production as well as Production Certificate certification work for the AirCab model.
