Luxeed, the automotive brand jointly developed by Huawei and Chery Automobile, plans to launch a new large sport utility vehicle in 2026 alongside its previously announced V9 multi-purpose vehicle, while also updating its existing models, the brand’s newly appointed executive leadership said.
Zhao Changjiang, Luxeed’s executive director and executive vice president, outlined the plans in an interview with Chinese automotive outlet Sina Auto, according to a transcript released on Tuesday. Zhao, who previously headed sales for BYD’s premium Denza brand, officially joined Luxeed this week.

The move signals a renewed push by Luxeed, one of five brands under Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), to raise its profile through an expanded and faster-paced product strategy.
Luxeed currently offers the S7 sedan and the R7 coupe-style SUV. Zhao said both models will receive annual facelifts, incorporating Huawei’s next-generation ADS 4.0 advanced driver assistance system, along with upgraded smart-driving hardware.

“In 2026, Luxeed will launch a flagship MPV and a large SUV, forming a more complete lineup together with the R7 and S7,” Zhao said in the interview. He added that the brand’s portfolio will ultimately span sedans, SUVs and MPVs.
Luxeed last month confirmed that its first MPV will be called the V9, marking the first MPV model under Huawei’s HIMA business. The V9 recently appeared in a regulatory filing in China and is scheduled to make its domestic market debut in the spring.
The expanded product plan follows an agreement signed in August 2025 between Huawei and Chery to move Luxeed into a so-called “Phase 2.0” of development. That phase includes planned investment of more than 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) and an expansion of Luxeed’s research and development workforce to about 5,000 employees.

Zhao said 2026 would be a year focused on strengthening the brand’s foundation, with Luxeed targeting annual sales of 1 million vehicles by 2030.
The company is also beginning to look beyond China. Zhao said a right-hand-drive version of the Luxeed V9 is planned to be unveiled in the second half of 2026, signalling initial steps toward overseas markets.
