Volkswagen and BP plan to strengthen their partnership in electric charging. The expansion of this partnership includes, among other things, expanding it into new territories and the use of new technologies.
The expansion of the partnership is said to be an effort to expand the electric vehicle charging infrastructure and address concerns about the amount of charging that is not keeping up with demand.
“There are so many more areas where we are complementary,” Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess
The extensive networks owned by BP and Volkswagen are expected to complement each other.

“BP has a very strong network in many places of the world. So it means what we do here we can do in other places as well,” Diess said
Volkswagen and BP plan to install 8,000 fast-charging stations across Europe by 2024 for battery-powered vehicles. This will allow BP to install Volkswagen-manufactured mobile chargers in their gas station network.
The mobile fast charger will have a capacity of about 150 kilowatts (kW), which can provide power for a distance of about 160 kilometers in 10 minutes.

BP CEO Bernard Looney said the charging network would be open to other brands.
“550 million people live around the BP site so it is necessary to roll out electric chargers at a greater reach,” says Bernard Looney
It is known, apart from BP, Volkswagen is also cooperating in charging with Enel from Italy and Iberdrola from Spain.
