Chinese electric vehicle maker Leapmotor has taken a key regulatory step toward launching its new D19 large SUV after the model appeared in a vehicle catalog released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), clearing the final major hurdle before sales approval in China.
The D19 was included in MIIT’s latest disclosure published on Thursday, with public feedback open from Jan. 9 to Jan. 15. The filing lists two variants under product codes FZ6530BEVWD19A and FZ6530REEVWD19C, representing the battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions, respectively.

The D19 made its global debut in October 2025 as the first model in Leapmotor’s new D series. According to the regulatory data, the SUV will be offered in both six-seat and seven-seat configurations. It measures 5,252 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width and 1,800 mm or 1,780 mm in height, depending on configuration, with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm. Curb weight ranges from 2,730 kg to 2,770 kg, while the maximum listed speed is 180 km/h.
The EREV version of the D19 is equipped with a 1.5-litre engine acting as a range extender with a maximum output of 95 kW, paired with a dual-motor electric drivetrain delivering 100 kW at the front axle and 200 kW at the rear. The BEV variant also uses a dual-motor setup, with a 180 kW front motor and a 230 kW rear motor.
Battery cells for both versions are supplied by CATL, according to the filing. The EREV variant uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, while the BEV version combines LFP and ternary lithium-ion battery options. Leapmotor has previously said the BEV version of the D19 features a 115-kWh battery pack offering up to 720 kilometres of driving range, while the EREV version uses an 80.3-kWh battery pack delivering up to 500 kilometres of range, the largest battery capacity disclosed for an EREV model in China.

Leapmotor has said the D19 will be officially launched and deliveries will begin in April 2026. Pricing has not been announced, although the company has previously indicated the model is positioned around the 300,000 yuan ($42,980) price point.
The filing follows Leapmotor’s unveiling of the D99 multi-purpose vehicle in December, as the company expands its lineup into larger and higher-priced vehicle segments amid intensifying competition in China’s electric vehicle market.
