U.S. electric vehicle sales at Ford Motor fell sharply toward the end of 2025, underscoring a shift in the automaker’s electrification strategy even as it posted its strongest overall sales performance in several years.
Ford delivered 14,513 electric vehicles in the fourth quarter in the United States, a 52% decline from a year earlier, as sales of its all-electric F-150 Lightning pickup dropped steeply. For the full year, Ford sold 84,113 EVs, down 14% from 2024, despite recording its best overall U.S. sales since 2019.

The slowdown was most pronounced in Ford’s electric truck lineup. Deliveries of the F-150 Lightning fell to 4,273 units in the fourth quarter, down about 60% year on year, following the company’s decision to wind down the model. Sales of the E-Transit electric van also weakened, while the Mustang Mach-E, Ford’s highest-volume EV, posted a sharp annual decline in quarterly deliveries.
By contrast, Ford’s broader electrified portfolio was buoyed by strong demand for hybrids. Hybrid vehicle sales rose 22% year on year to a record 228,072 units in 2025, helping lift total U.S. deliveries by 6% and pushing market share to 13.2%.

“This past year proved that Ford has the right product and powertrain offering for the lives of our customers,” said Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue and Model e. “We’re growing share and beating the trend because we offer a great range of products, from accessible entry-level models to high-performance off-roaders.”
The divergence highlights a growing contrast in Ford’s sales mix, with hybrids accounting for an increasing share of growth as EV demand cools, particularly for higher-priced electric trucks. The trend mirrors moves by other legacy automakers, many of which are recalibrating their electrification plans by leaning more heavily on hybrids and conventional vehicles amid slower-than-expected EV adoption.
