China’s GAC Group reported declines in both vehicle production and sales in November as pressure on its traditional combustion-engine business continued to weigh on overall performance, partly offset by mixed results in its electric vehicle operations.
The automaker said in a statement that total vehicle production in November fell 9.71% from a year earlier to 187,500 units, while sales declined 9.72% to 179,700 units. New energy vehicle (NEV) production reached 57,556 units and sales stood at 56,422 units during the month.
For the first eleven months of 2025, cumulative production dropped 7.62% year-on-year to 1.5791 million units, while total sales fell 10.80% to 1.534 million units, reflecting continued volatility during the company’s transition toward electrification.
Among GAC’s major subsidiaries, GAC Honda posted November production of 37,571 units, down 16.03% year-on-year, while sales rose 5.68% to 41,366 units. GAC Toyota reported relatively stable operations, with production of 74,783 units, down 0.61%, and sales of 73,500 units, up 0.68%. GAC Trumpchi recorded a sharper slowdown, with production falling 12.82% to 35,260 units and sales plunging 42.04% to 25,739 units. GAC Aion produced 39,194 vehicles, down 16.57%, while sales slipped 9.4% to 38,326 units.
Within the new energy segment, GAC Toyota emerged as a key support for the group’s transition. Its all-electric bZ3X sport utility vehicle delivered 10,010 units in November, marking the second straight month in which sales exceeded the 10,000-unit threshold.
GAC’s in-house EV brand, Aion, saw month-on-month sales growth in November despite the year-on-year decline, helped by deliveries of newer models. The company said the Aion i60 has emerged as a new growth driver, while the recently launched Aion UT has generated strong consumer interest.
The November figures highlight the broader challenge facing traditional Chinese automakers, as declining internal combustion engine sales weigh on headline performance during the shift toward electrification, even as selected EV models show signs of traction.
