Lightyear is going to integrate their electric vehicle into the car-sharing platform, MyWheels. There will be 5,000 Lightyear Two models available through MyWheels from 2025 onwards.
In addition, Lightyear also plans to make the Lightyear One sedan for private customers. Lightyear One will be offered through MyWheels in early 2023. MyWheels is a mobility platform owned by The Sharing Group.
Lightyear CEO Lex Hoefsloot said that the future of mobility is not only about vehicles, but also about how we use them.
“Car sharing services are an example of how the market is evolving to find new, more sustainable ways to keep people mobile without owning a car,” said Hoefsloot.
Lightyear has also provided updates to the models they produce. The Lightyear One will go into production in late summer 2022.
The Lightyear Two will launch in 2024 or 2025 with an entry price of 30,000 euros. There are not many details about the model yet. But in December last year LeasePlan announced they would take delivery of 5,000 units of the Lightyear Two.
