Peugeot is preparing to introduce the next generation of its e-208 in late 2026, built on Stellantis’ new STLA Small platform. The French automaker said the updated model will mark a major technological step, offering higher battery capacities, extended range, and a redesigned, futuristic interior.
The upcoming e-208 will be Peugeot’s first model to use the STLA Small architecture, which enables larger batteries while maintaining compact dimensions. The shift to the new platform is expected to significantly increase driving range beyond 500 kilometres on the WLTP cycle, compared to the current model’s 432 kilometres.

The new lineup will include versions ranging from 37 kWh to around 82 kWh, according to a report by Autocar. Production of the new e-208 is scheduled to begin at the end of 2026, while combustion-engine variants of the current model will remain in production for a transition period.
The new e-208 will be followed in 2027 by the next-generation Opel and Vauxhall Corsa Electric, built on the same technical foundation, Autocar reported. Both will continue to be produced in Saragossa, Spain. While power output is expected to remain around 115 kW, Peugeot may again introduce a higher-performance variant, following the recent 206 kW GTi version of the current model. Charging performance is also expected to improve, addressing one of Stellantis’ current limitations in the small EV segment.

Inside, Peugeot plans a major overhaul with a completely new cockpit design inspired by the upcoming “Polygon” concept car, set for unveiling in November. The next e-208 will introduce steer-by-wire technology, eliminating the traditional steering column to create a more open and spacious interior.
A rectangular steering wheel, first previewed in Peugeot’s “Inception” concept, will feature in the new model alongside a widescreen display similar to that of the 3008. Despite the technical upgrades, Peugeot aims to keep the starting price near the current e-208’s €24,000 range, while offering broader customization and battery options.
