BYD’s off-road and family-focused sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao will unveil updated variants of its Bao 5 and Bao 8 SUVs on October 20, aiming to expand its market reach after achieving record sales last month.
The Bao 5 SUV will receive a long-range variant, while the Bao 8 will see the introduction of a five-seat version, complementing its existing six- and seven-seat configurations. The launches follow strong September deliveries, when the brand sold 24,121 vehicles, marking a 344.87 percent year-on-year increase, driven primarily by its Tai 3 and Tai 7 models.

The Bao 5, first launched in November 2023 and updated in January 2025 with a Smart Driving Edition, comes standard with a 31.8-kWh battery pack and an 83-liter fuel tank, providing a combined fuel-electric range exceeding 1,200 kilometers. The upcoming long-range variant is expected to offer a larger battery and a CLTC electric range of up to 200 kilometers.
The Bao 8, BYD’s second model under Fang Cheng Bao, was introduced in November 2024 with six- and seven-seat configurations and integrated Huawei driver assistance technology. A five-seat variant could attract buyers seeking more interior flexibility while maintaining the SUV’s off-road capabilities.
