The United Arab Emirates has taken a major step toward smart mobility with the launch of its first commercial fleet of autonomous electric trucks, developed through a partnership between Evocargo and RAK Ceramics. The deployment, located in the Al Jazeera Al Hamra industrial zone, marks a breakthrough for the nation’s logistics industry as it embraces both automation and sustainability.
The Evocargo N1 trucks are now in daily operation, transporting ceramics and sanitary ware for RAK Ceramics. With a range of up to 200 kilometres per charge, the self-driving vehicles navigate complex industrial environments, processing road signs and infrastructure data in real time. Their performance highlights the readiness of autonomous electric technology for commercial logistics.

According to Shaheem Musthafa, CEO of Evocargo Autonomous Logistic Services in the UAE, “this proves that zero-emission autonomous transport is a viable solution for daily commercial operations.” Evocargo’s Robots-as-a-Service model allows companies to adopt the technology on a subscription basis, avoiding high upfront costs while enabling scalable deployment.

The N1 trucks feature a fifth-generation autopilot and an AI-powered multi-sensor perception system, supported by a four-layer safety framework. The vehicles use LIDARs, sonars, and cameras to analyse their surroundings, while a central computing unit processes data in real time to adapt to dynamic road conditions. The system is designed for continuous operation, pausing only for charging and simultaneous loading or unloading.

RAK Ceramics said integrating autonomous electric trucks into its logistics network underscores its “commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.” By using electricity as their sole power source, the vehicles significantly reduce emissions while enhancing efficiency.
The initiative supports the UAE’s broader sustainability vision, showcasing how industrial growth and environmental stewardship can progress together. It also positions the country as a regional leader in adopting autonomous and electric mobility solutions for large-scale logistics.
