Switch Mobility, the electric vehicle arm of Hinduja Group, has started deliveries of its EiV12 low-floor electric buses in Delhi, marking the first batch of a 950-unit order placed by the city’s transport department.
The EiV12, engineered and built in India by the Ashok Leyland subsidiary, seats 39 passengers and includes accessibility features such as a wheelchair ramp. Safety and monitoring systems onboard include CCTV, panic buttons, GPS tracking and fire detection.
Powered by floor-mounted LFP batteries with storage capacity ranging from 189 kWh to 423 kWh, the buses can travel up to 314 km per charge.
They are equipped with a dual-gun CCS2 charging interface and Switch iON, the company’s telematics platform offering real-time vehicle health monitoring and fleet management.
“These Low Floor Electric City Buses, engineered with advanced global technology and manufactured with pride in India, will significantly enhance Delhi’s public transport ecosystem while contributing to cleaner air and improved quality of life for millions of commuters,” said Chief Commercial Officer RG Venkataraman.
The Delhi government has positioned the order as part of its effort to maintain the capital’s lead as India’s city with the largest fleet of electric buses. Switch Mobility, which also unveiled its E1 model for European markets in December 2024, said the EiV12 will support Delhi’s transition to sustainable public transport.
