VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), a joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Jio-bp Pulse to expand access to electric vehicle charging infrastructure for its commercial fleet customers.
The partnership will give operators of Eicher trucks and buses access to Jio-bp’s network of more than 6,000 DC fast-charging points across India, including in major urban centres, highways and EV hubs. The chargers will be integrated into VECV’s “My Eicher” fleet management app, enabling fleet managers to view locations and real-time availability. VECV said this marks the first time a public charging network has been integrated with its fleet management platform.
The memorandum also allows for future collaboration, with the companies considering depot-level charging solutions and bespoke infrastructure projects tailored to large commercial fleets under separate agreements.
“By integrating Jio-bp Pulse’s extensive charging network into our My Eicher app, we are resolving a critical barrier to electric fleet adoption by facilitating seamless access to high-power chargers wherever our vehicles operate,” said Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO of VECV.
Sarthak Behuria, Chairman of Jio-bp, said the tie-up supports broader adoption of electric vehicles. “Collaboration between Jio-bp and VECV represents a significant step forward in our vision to transform India’s mobility landscape. Electric mobility is a cornerstone of this transformation, and this partnership plays a pivotal role in electrifying the critical trucking sector and driving EV adoption among fleet operators,” he said.
Jio-bp Pulse, the electric mobility arm of Reliance BP Mobility, is a joint venture between Reliance Industries and BP. The company, which combines Reliance Jio’s digital ecosystem with BP’s charging expertise, aims to double its charging points by the end of 2025.
