Geely Galaxy, the hybrid-focused sub-brand of Geely Auto (0175.HK), launched its latest model, the Starshine 6, in eastern China on Friday, aiming to capture a share of the affordable family car market dominated by rivals such as BYD’s Qin Plus.
The sedan was introduced at an event in Qufu, Shandong province, where Geely positioned it as an accessible first car for young buyers and a practical option for family households. With the new model, Geely Galaxy continues to expand its line-up amid growing demand for hybrids in China’s competitive auto sector.

The Starshine 6 measures 4,806 mm in length, 1,886 mm in width and 1,490 mm in height, supported by a wheelbase of 2,756 mm. It is powered by Geely’s next-generation Leishen AI hybrid 2.0 system, offering an electric-only range of up to 125 km. The car also features a 1.5-litre engine producing 82 kW of maximum output and supports a top speed of 180 km/h. Geely Galaxy said the model achieves “the world’s lowest fuel consumption per 100 km in the 2L class.”
The hybrid sedan uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by CALB and Rept Battero Energy, two of China’s leading battery manufacturers. Alongside its hybrid system, the Starshine 6 incorporates the G-Pilot H3 driver assistance suite, which includes parking assistance and an urban commuting pilot mode. Inside, the car is equipped with a 10.2-inch digital dashboard and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen powered by the Flyme Auto cockpit system.

Pricing has not yet been disclosed, but industry observers expect it to be positioned below Geely Galaxy’s larger Starshine 8 sedan, which ranges from 125,800 yuan ($17,630) to 165,800 yuan. The Starshine 8, measuring 5,018 mm in length with a longer wheelbase of 2,928 mm, sits higher in the brand’s line-up, offering a more spacious option for buyers.
