Helm.ai, a provider of autonomous driving AI software, has signed a multi-year joint development agreement with Honda Motor Co., Ltd. to accelerate the development of Honda’s next-generation self-driving capabilities, including its Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) system.
The collaboration will focus on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for production consumer vehicles. Helm.ai will provide its full-stack AI software, including perception, real-time path prediction, and generative simulation models powered by its Deep Teaching™ technology, pre-trained on large-scale datasets and adaptable to Honda’s safety and performance requirements.
Honda’s NOA system is a partially automated platform designed to assist drivers on highways and urban roads while requiring constant driver attention. Honda plans to expand the technology across more models, aiming for a system that can assist with steering and accelerator control throughout entire routes, with mass production expected after 2027.
Mahito Shikama, Vice President of Honda’s Software Defined Vehicle Business Supervisory Unit, said the partnership “supports Honda’s goal of realizing safe and affordable automated driving technologies for our global customers. Through our collaboration with Helm.ai, we are advancing the development of AI technologies that enhance the real-world applicability of autonomous driving systems, bringing us closer to a future with zero traffic collision fatalities.”
Vladislav Voroninski, CEO and founder of Helm.ai, added: “We look forward to entering the next phase of production development with Honda, as they expand their in-house efforts to deploy cutting edge autonomous driving technologies in mass market vehicles. This joint development highlights our shared vision of enabling AI-powered mobility at scale.”
