U.S. electric vehicle maker Lucid Group has begun rolling out new hands-free driving features for its Air luxury sedan, the company said on Wednesday, as it continues to expand the capabilities of its advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS).
Starting this week, Lucid Air owners can access Hands-Free Drive Assist and Hands-Free Change Assist on compatible divided highways through an over-the-air (OTA) software update. The update is part of a broader upgrade to Lucid’s DreamDrive Pro system, which is available as an optional package priced at $950 plus tax.

“These features will allow customers to experience easy-to-use and intuitive hands-free driving and hands-free lane change assist,” the company said in a statement. The functions can be activated using the vehicle’s turn signal, aligning with how many other ADAS systems operate.
Lucid’s DreamDrive Pro integrates 32 sensors, including LiDAR, visible-light cameras, surround-view cameras, and ultrasonic radars. Kai Stepper, Lucid’s vice president of ADAS and autonomous driving, said the rollout represents a significant milestone in the brand’s software strategy. “These features offer a glimpse into the future that Lucid is building,” Stepper said, adding that “we have a roadmap to continue to deliver significantly more functionality to our owners in the future.”

The new update comes shortly after Lucid introduced Android Auto Smart Driving Companion in June via OTA version 2.7.0, which allows drivers to mirror their smartphones on the Air’s 34-inch curved cockpit display.
Lucid confirmed that its Gravity SUV will receive similar hands-free driving capabilities later this year. According to sales data from the first half of 2025, the Lucid Air was the top-selling luxury electric sedan in the U.S., outperforming the Tesla Model S and several internal combustion engine rivals in its segment.
