Isuzu is entering the electric pickup segment with its first-ever battery-powered truck, the D-MAX EV, targeting markets in Europe and the UK.
Marking a shift from its diesel roots, the new electric D-MAX offers robust capabilities including a full-time four-wheel-drive system, a towing capacity of up to 3,500 kg (7,700 lbs), and specialized off-road features such as a dedicated Terrain Mode.
Built for durability and utility, the D-MAX EV retains the rugged design of its combustion-engine counterpart. It features 210 mm (8.3 inches) of ground clearance and can navigate water depths up to 600 mm (nearly 24 inches).
Powered by a 66.9 kWh battery, the pickup offers a WLTP range of 163 miles and supports charging speeds of up to 50 kW—allowing a 20% to 80% recharge in around one hour.
Isuzu began producing left-hand drive versions of the D-MAX EV in April, with European shipments scheduled to begin in the third quarter. Right-hand drive models for the UK will follow, with production starting by the end of 2025 and deliveries expected in March 2026.
Pricing for the electric D-MAX starts at £59,995 ($81,000) for the base model and £60,995 ($82,500) for the double cab variant—significantly higher than the diesel version, which begins at £36,755 ($50,000).
The D-MAX EV will be available in extended and double cab configurations with premium trims including the eDL40 and V-Cross. Pre-orders are expected to open later this year.
