Polestar said on Tuesday that its public charging service, Polestar Charge, now provides access to over 1 million charging points across Europe. The company stated that this expansion positions the app among the most extensive public charging services available in the region.
The service is accessible in all Polestar markets across Europe and integrates a range of providers, including IONITY, Recharge, Fastned, Allego, Tesla Superchargers, and Total, along with various local charging networks. The aim is to simplify public EV charging for drivers by consolidating access and payment into one platform.
Since its launch in March 2024, Polestar Charge has expanded its discounted charging offering to more than 70,000 points through 40 charge operators, an increase of 75%, the company said. These discounts are available through a subscription option within the app.
Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller described the expanded access as a milestone in the brand’s charging strategy, noting that the platform is intended to make EV ownership more convenient.
The app also integrates with Google Maps for route planning and payment and now supports Plug & Charge functionality for the Polestar 2 (model year 2026) and the Polestar 3. This technology allows vehicles to communicate directly with compatible chargers, processing payments automatically and removing the need for separate authentication methods.
The company said the service is intended to reduce the need for additional subscriptions or third-party apps when using public charging networks.
