EV charging network operator Blink Charging has appointed Alex Calnan as Managing Director Europe, expanding his current role as UK chief to include oversight of operations in Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, and other European markets. The change in leadership will take effect on 1 July 2025.
Calnan succeeds Miko de Haan, who previously served as President of Europe Operations. The move is part of Blink’s strategy to strengthen its presence in Europe while streamlining operations globally. The company has recently undergone significant restructuring, including a 20% workforce reduction in March and a CEO change in August 2024.
“We are confident that Alex is the right person to lead our European business, execute our strategy and selectively expand throughout Europe,” said Mike Battaglia, President and Chief Executive Officer of Blink Charging. “He will bring strong financial discipline, support our global business objectives, and continue to deliver value to our stakeholders.”
In his new role, Calnan will be tasked with aligning Blink’s European services with global platforms and strengthening its market position amid tightening competition and evolving regulatory landscapes.
“We are intently focused on taking our efforts to streamline and globalize our services to the next level so we can offer customers across Europe and beyond a single, global experience,” Calnan said. “I also look forward to continuing to work alongside the passionate and knowledgeable team at Blink.”
Blink, a Nasdaq-listed company, operates EV charging stations in more than 25 countries and has recently intensified its European activities through infrastructure deals and technology upgrades.
