Waymo and Uber have begun offering early access to robotaxi rides in Atlanta, targeting users who joined a waitlist earlier this year, the companies said on Monday. The pilot comes ahead of a broader public launch of the autonomous ride-hailing service slated for this summer.
Selected users will be notified through the Uber app and via email, and will have the opportunity to opt into the robotaxi service operated by Waymo’s fleet of autonomous Jaguar I-PACE vehicles. Riders will be encouraged to provide feedback, and those completing their first Waymo ride through the Uber app will receive $10 in Uber credits.

Atlanta becomes the second U.S. city to offer the “Waymo on Uber” service, following its debut in Austin earlier this spring. Waymo and Uber first announced plans in September 2023 to expand robotaxi operations to both cities in early 2025, part of a broader collaboration to scale autonomous mobility.

The initial service area in Atlanta will span 65 square miles, covering downtown, Buckhead, and Capitol View. Waymo said the service area will expand gradually, as it has done in other launch cities such as Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco.
Under the partnership, Uber is responsible for tasks including charging, cleaning, and maintaining the autonomous vehicles, as well as app integration and customer experience. Waymo oversees the vehicle’s autonomous systems and rider support during trips.
