Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) giant BYD has teased a new mid-class electric sedan, the e7, as it continues a rapid expansion of its model lineup.
BYD revealed the e7 through a series of teaser posters but has yet to disclose detailed specifications. The vehicle was previously listed in the regulatory catalog of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in January, signaling an imminent market launch.

According to official filings, the e7 measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,515 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. It is equipped with a single 100 kW electric motor and has a top speed of 150 km/h. Battery options include 48 kWh and 57.6 kWh packs, offering estimated CLTC ranges of 450 km and 520 km, respectively.
BYD’s e series has traditionally played a lesser role compared to its Ocean and Dynasty series, which are named after marine life and Chinese dynasties. The last update to the e series came in March 2024 with the e2 Glory Edition, though the model is no longer listed on BYD’s website.

The teaser comes as BYD ramps up its product offensive. The automaker has already introduced multiple new models in March, including the Qin L EV sedan, the Sealion 05 EV SUV, and the N9 SUV from its Denza sub-brand. Additionally, BYD’s ultra-luxury brand Yangwang officially launched the U7 sedan, while Fang Cheng Bao, another sub-brand, is set to begin pre-sales of the Tai 3 SUV on March 31.
Meanwhile, BYD has also started offering discounts on several hybrid models in the Ocean series, reducing the starting price of the Sealion 06 DM-i hybrid sedan to RMB 89,800 ($12,360). The move appears aimed at clearing inventory of older models following recent updates with Smart Driving features.
