Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Xpeng has officially entered the Indonesian market, introducing its G6 and X9 models as part of its expansion into Southeast Asia.
The brand’s operations in Indonesia are handled by Erajaya Active Lifestyle (ERAL), which plans to position Xpeng as a premium EV brand in the country. However, Xpeng’s presence extends beyond vehicle imports, with plans for local assembly in Purwakarta, West Java.

“In Indonesia, we plan to cooperate with local partners and produce at the Purwakarta factory,” said Iki Wibowo, CEO of Automotive Innovation Era, at the Grand Launching Xpeng event in Jakarta on Friday.
Xpeng’s Vice Chairman and Co-President, Brian Gu, confirmed that local assembly of the G6 and X9 models is expected to begin in the second half of this year. “Hopefully, we can start in the second half of this year. We will prioritize the G6 and X9 for local assembly,” he said.

Gu added that Xpeng is working closely with Indonesian government officials and local partners to establish a strong manufacturing and sales network in the country.
Xpeng’s entry into Indonesia marks a strategic move in its global expansion, particularly within the Asian market, as automakers seek to tap into the region’s growing demand for electric mobility.
