BMW i3 50 xDrive Starts at $61,500
The US-market BMW i3 is offered in Sport, M Sport and M Sport Professional variants. BMW’s Driving Assistant Plus suite and Shadowline Exterior trim are standard across the range.
The 2027 model year US configurator lists a starting price of $61,500, excluding a $1,350 destination charge.
BMW opened i3 orders in Europe in June. The i3 50 xDrive starts at £53,005 in the UK and €65,900 in Germany.
US Orders Open Earlier Than Expected
The opening of US order books came earlier than previously anticipated. According to reports, company sources had indicated that orders were expected to begin in early October, but reservations became available on September 29.
The earlier opening followed reported strong demand for the new electric model.
Dual-Motor System Produces 345 kW
The US-market i3 50 xDrive uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 345 kW and 645 Nm of torque. BMW lists a 0-to-60 mph acceleration time of 4.5 seconds.
The i3 is the second production model based on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform, following the iX3 electric SUV. Series production of the i3 began at BMW’s Munich plant in August.
BMW Uses 800-Volt Charging Technology
The new i3 features BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology and an 800-volt electrical architecture. Peak DC charging power reaches 400 kW.
BMW says the i3 can add up to 208 miles of range in 10 minutes when connected to a compatible rapid charger.
For the US market, the electric saloon is equipped with a native NACS charging port.
The combination of the Neue Klasse platform, sixth-generation eDrive technology and high-voltage charging system forms the basis of BMW’s latest electric saloon as the company expands its next-generation EV lineup.
