BMW has just announced the iX1 with electric powertrain which is the new third generation X1 small SUV. Under the official name BMW iX1 xDrive 30, this car uses two electric motors with 313 horsepower and 364 pound-feet (494 Nm) of torque. BMW has not disclosed the battery capacity, but claims the iX1 xDrive 30 has a range of 257 – 272 miles (413 – 438 km).
Acceleration from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 5.7 seconds. As mentioned above, the battery capacity has not been revealed by BMW, but it should be around 70 kWh (maybe under for net capacity). BMW says battery capacity may change before the vehicle hits the assembly line at the end of this year.
Regarding design, the iX1 uses BMW’s latest design language while maintaining the small details that characterize BMW. The iX1 has headlights that sweep the corners of the front fascia very strongly, while from the side it looks quite upright, the attractiveness of the mini-SUV looks quite good.
From the rear, the highlight is the very bold blade-style taillight cluster that gives the vehicle a very wide feel.
From the interior, it is identical to the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, which is the first model from BMW that does not feature physical controls for infotainment.
The BMW iX1 xDrive 30 comes with the same twin curved screens, floating center armrests and a standard sports steering wheel. The mains charging port is where the petrol cap is on the ICE model.
Exact specifications, especially related to battery capacity and price information will be revealed by BMW at a later date.
