Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. has highlighted five major technological breakthroughs in hybrid and electric drive systems as it accelerates the transition toward low-emission heavy equipment across its construction, mining and agricultural machinery businesses.
The technologies were recognized during the company’s seventh Science and Technology Innovation Conference, underscoring Zoomlion’s long-term strategy to expand intelligent and sustainable equipment solutions.
Five Innovations Drive Electrification Strategy
Among the technologies honored were an ultra-high-horsepower hybrid tractor, advanced electric-drive and intelligent control systems for heavy machinery, distributed electric-drive technology for mobile cranes, series-hybrid electric-drive systems for combine harvesters, and a portfolio of patented hybrid technologies for high-horsepower agricultural tractors.
Together, the developments demonstrate the company’s efforts to integrate electrification, intelligent controls and energy-efficient powertrains across multiple industrial sectors.
One of the flagship products is Zoomlion’s 300-ton electric-drive hybrid mining truck, which the company says is the largest vehicle of its type currently available.
Expanding a Comprehensive New-Energy Product Portfolio
Supporting these developments is Zoomlion’s dedicated new-energy technology platform, which oversees electric-drive architecture, core component development and technical integration across the company’s equipment divisions.
The manufacturer has established a broad portfolio covering construction equipment, mining machinery and agricultural vehicles powered by battery-electric, hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell technologies.
Its product lineup also includes battery-swapping and plug-in charging solutions designed to support different operating environments.
According to the company, nearly 60 new-energy products were introduced during 2025, bringing its total portfolio to approximately 240 electrified products.
Zoomlion also develops critical technologies internally, including lithium battery systems, electric motors, electronic control systems and hydrogen fuel cell technologies, supported by its own research, development and testing capabilities.
Improving Efficiency in Agriculture and Mining
The company’s hybrid powertrain technologies have already entered commercial use in agricultural machinery, particularly tractors and wheat harvesters.
Zoomlion said its hybrid wheat harvester reduces fuel consumption by approximately 30%, while its hybrid tractor delivers fuel savings of around 8% through optimized energy management.
In the mining sector, the company has implemented chassis-by-wire technology in autonomous mining trucks equipped with a three-level braking architecture combining retarder braking, electric braking and conventional mechanical braking to improve operational safety under demanding working conditions.
Focused on Future Innovation
Ou Biao, Director of the Vehicle Control Institute at Zoomlion New Energy Technology Company, said the recognition reflects years of engineering work carried out in challenging field environments.
“For our team, this recognition is both a validation of the engineers’ work and an encouragement to keep going. Developing new-energy products requires repeated field testing in mines, farmland, and other demanding operating environments. These honors motivate us to stay close to customer needs and keep pushing through difficult technical challenges.”
Zoomlion said it will continue expanding its portfolio of new-energy equipment while working closely with customers around the world to develop technologies tailored to regional operating conditions and support the global transition toward cleaner, more intelligent heavy machinery.
