Geely Group’s luxury electric brand, Zeekr, is set to make a major impact with its highly anticipated new model, the Zeekr X. As the brand’s flagship vehicle, the Zeekr X is designed to showcase Geely’s cutting-edge automotive technology and electrification expertise. With its impressive range and powerful performance, the Zeekr X is poised to be a game-changer in the competitive EV market.
According to the Chinese regulator, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Zeekr X will feature a 66-kWh battery, which is set to power the vehicle’s two electric motors. This high-capacity battery is capable of delivering an impressive range of 500-560 km on a single charge, depending on the powertrain option selected. The battery, which weighs 390 kg, has an energy density of 184.4 Wh/kg, making it one of the most advanced batteries in the EV market.

What’s more, the Zeekr X’s battery is ternary (NMC) made by VREMT, a company that is fully owned by Geely. This cutting-edge battery technology has been borrowed from Geely’s other electric vehicle, the Smart #1. The Zeekr X’s battery can be charged at a maximum of 150 kW, which means that the battery can be charged in just 30 minutes. This feature is a significant advantage for EV owners who need to charge their vehicles quickly, without having to wait for hours.
The Zeekr X’s powertrain options are similar to the Smart #1, which is another vehicle underpinned by Geely’s SEA architecture. The entry-level Zeekr X features a single electric motor on the rear axle with a power output of 272 hp. Meanwhile, the 4WD option is available with two electric motors and a combined power output of 428 horsepower. These powertrain options offer a range of performance options for different driving preferences and requirements.

The Zeekr X is a larger vehicle than the Smart #1, with dimensions of 4450/1836/1572 mm and a wheelbase of 2750 mm. It has a curb weight of between 1,840 and 1,945 kg, depending on the model selected. The vehicle is also finished in an attractive blue color called “Sydney Harbour Blue,” which is sure to turn heads on the road.
With Zeekr’s success in China, having sold over 70,000 vehicles in 2022 alone, the brand is now looking to expand into the European market, and the Zeekr X is expected to play a key role in this expansion strategy. The Zeekr X is set to make its public debut at the 2022 Shanghai Auto Show and will be available to Chinese consumers in early Q2, with plans to make its way to Europe soon after.
