China-based electric vehicle manufacturer Zeekr has officially introduced its inaugural sedan model, the Zeekr 007, at the Guangzhou auto show, intensifying competition in the country’s growing all-electric sedan market. The pre-sales for the Zeekr 007 have commenced, offering customers an enticing starting price of RMB 229,900 yuan ($31,730).

Potential buyers who reserve the Zeekr 007 with a RMB 1,000 deposit before the official launch can benefit from a RMB 5,000 discount on their final payment, reducing the effective pre-sale starting price to RMB 224,900. The eagerly anticipated sedan is set to hit the market and initiate deliveries in January 2024, according to Zeekr.

In a notable development, Zeekr reported an impressive response to the pre-sales initiative, with the Zeekr 007 amassing over 5,000 pre-orders within the first 30 minutes following its debut at the Guangzhou auto show.

The Zeekr 007, positioned as a B-segment sedan and utilizing Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), represents Zeekr’s foray into the mainstream market. The company, established in 2021, currently offers three models in China: the Zeekr 001 (SUV), Zeekr 009 (MPV), and Zeekr X (premium compact SUV), catering to specific niche markets.

Measuring 4,865 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,450 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,928 mm, the Zeekr 007 is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The rear-wheel-drive variant boasts an impressive acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in as fast as 2.84 seconds, while the four-wheel-drive version achieves the same feat in 5.4 seconds.

Built on an 800 V high-voltage architecture for enhanced range and faster charging, the Zeekr 007 offers a CLTC range of 688 kilometers for the entry-level version and an extended 870 kilometers for the long-range variant. The model can achieve a range of 610 km on a 15-minute charge.

An innovative one-piece die-cast rear-end aluminum body, created using a shared large 7,200-ton die-casting machine with the Zeekr 009, contributes to increased stiffness, reducing parts and welds compared to traditional manufacturing processes. This integration results in a quieter and less vibrational driving experience.

The smart cockpit of the Zeekr 007 will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, representing the next generation of flagship cockpit chips. Additionally, the model is equipped with Zeekr’s in-house developed Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), powered by two Nvidia Drive Orin chips with a combined computing power of 508 Tops. The hardware includes one LiDAR, 12 HD cameras, five millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars.
